? spin off: stopping baby food.
I wasnt brought up in a house that had 3 meals a day, only meal my mother made for us was dinner. Not saying my mother wasnt a good mother, I just dont think she truly knew how to be one. Now im terrified that I will be the same way with my dd, and i want to be different. I want to know shes eating healthy and getting the nutrients she needs to grow.
So my question is: Is there a book that i can get that can teach me how to cook and feed my family the right foods? DH and my diet are horrible, and dont want my dd being the way we are.
Thanks for the suggestions, and its greatly appreciated.

What about making an appointment with a nutrionist to show you the right way to eat?

My best advice is to know your limitations. If you arent the type to cook 3 meals a day then you shouldnt try to completely change b/c you may not be able to..and set yourself up to fail (in your own mind..the ol parent guilt hits hard)
Find foods that fit your lifestyle. We only do big breakfasts on the weekends. During the week we do cereal, muffins, yogurt, toast, fruit etc. You can easily make a nice fruit salad and have it for a couple of days with a yogurt as a healthy breakfast....Plan on dinners with leftovers...Roast chicken one night can easily turn into a quick chicken soup the next day for lunch by using canned chicken broth, noodles and some low sodium canned carrots..Any leftover meat and/or veggies from last nights dinner can easily be tossed with leftover pasta for a healthy meal..
Start checking out the frozen food aisle too for "quick" foods. A lot of companies now put out those steamed veggie packets which you just throw in the microwave..one companie does steamed ravioli too...
I would love to cook my kids a hearty breakfast each morning but with trying to get them all out the door at separate times..and the fact that Im not a morning person..it just isnt going to happen. So Ive adapted and found ways to make sure that they eat healthy while being convenient too..
