Re: spin off to all the glucose test posts...
Soo many people fail, I'm really surprised! I really hope I don't. A girl I work with failed and then went for the three hour and vomitted all over the floor after drinking the stuff so never completed the 3 hour. Her doc said she was probably fine, but her baby was almost 10lbs so she is convinced she had GD.

I fasted and failed the 1 hour-passed the 3 hour. I asked my doc what the diff was being I failed. She said its a diff test--I guess the first one is like a precursor test. I never failed previously...I dk.

Re: spin off to all the glucose test posts...
Are there any early indications that someone would fail?
I have been eating A LOT of sugar during this pregnancy and I wonder how that affects the glucose test...?

my high risk doc said no--it has to do with the fact that after a certain amount of weeks--the plancenta starts producing something and makes some people unable to process glucose--so if u cannot--the baby stores it as fat/. if u fail then diet is altered and if that does not work insulin is used. I believe--130 is flagged--and if u go as high as 190 u are considered a def diabetic and they usually do not even test u just change your diet. I would not eat sugary things night before test though in case u cannot process it quick enough--I fasted.

Re: spin off to all the glucose test posts...
My dr told be 8 weeks ago (going to glucose next week) that I can start to prepare by eating well, lots of small meals and try not to have too many starches.
