Spin off to best friend

How long have you known your best friend? Is he/she your best friend because of how long you have known each other, or how close you are (or both)? Is it possible to be best friends after only knowing each other a couple of years? I'm just curious with all this. I always figured I missed my opportunity at a best friend since by now most girls have one that they have known for 15+ years.

I known my best friend since I was 7, but that isn't why were are close. We didnt become really good friends till my mom passed away and I moved to queens and we lived in the same house and were in the same class. I dont think time deciphers who is a best friend.

I've known my BF since were were maybe 7 or 8. It's all a blur lol.

Yes, you can have a best friend after knowing someone a few years. My closest friends are from my college years and if I didn't know my BF, I would have them.

I've known my best friend for 10 years. She is actually my SIL. We met when I started dating DH (she was dating BIL at the time) and while we were friendly then, we became close when we got engaged (1 month a apart) and we were able to plan our weddings together!
So... in my opinion, it doesn't have to do with how long you've known eachother but how close of a relationship you have.

I've known mine for about 26 years. But I think we're best friends primarily because we were and have continued to be close, not because we've known each other so long. You can totally meet someone new that you click with and become best friends in a shorter amount of time!

She's been my best friend since I was 4 (and she was 3). We rode our big wheels up and down the block growing up. We went to the same school and were like sisters. We've been friends for 33+ years.

I guess it was just growing up together and living so close to each other. Even after she moved to FL when she was 13 with her family, I still was close and I still am to this day. I am flying down to see her in early May for a week's visit!

Yes, my closest friend I've known since 8th grade.

But, I also have two other friends, whom I met about 7 years ago, who I consider my other closest friends.

I met one of them at the gym - she had just moved to the area, didn't know anyone, and, in her own words, picked me up at the gym. She said she overheard me ranting and raving about something in a bit!hy tone and just knew then and there that she had to be my friend

I met my other friend through her - they were old bunkmates in camp and ran into each other at a bar in Philly about a month after I met my friend. We started hanging out togehter and have been inseperable ever since.

So, it's still possible as an adult to find and make close friends.

My best friend is from college. We have known each other for about 9 years.
I have close friends who I have known for longer periods of time, but nothing compares to the relationship my best friend and I have.

I don't think it's years that make someone your best friend- I think it's how you just click

I have a few people I consider best friends- including one I met 3 months ago

call me crazy- but we just clicked- we have so much in common - good and bad- she helped me thru the craziest 2 weeks of my life and very well might have saved my life

the craziest thing is - both of our Mom's passed away- and have birthdays 1 day apart 2/18 and 2/19 - so if you believe in heaven- it might be in birthday order- b/c we believe they brought us together

i know here a few years. we just clicked. she's been there through some sad times and helped me et through it. we're taking our 2nd vacation together

I don't have a "best" friend, but my three closest girlfriends, with whom I can talk about anything, I met in college (10.5 years ago) grad school (7.5 years ago) and during internship (3.5 years ago). I have friends who I have known much longer, but we are not as close as we were as children.

ive know my bestfriend sinice 1991. till now. we are very close. shes the only girl that i actually stayed friends with from highschool so its been a long time maybe 16 or 17 years.

I've known my best friend for about 19 years. We've been very close all along, but in the last 3 years, we have become extremely close, more like sisters.

My best friend and I have been friends since we were 6. We were in the same 1st grade class. I went up to her and said, "Hi, want to be my friend?" and she said, "Sure!" We've been friends ever since. We've been through a lot together, but we're very close. We can just look at each other and know what the other one is thinking.

ive known my best friend about 5 years, actually met from LIW....our friendship expanded when we started working in the same building and had lunch every day, even though our jobs changed we still talk/meet up which is amazing for me cause im suck a slacker for making plans with people... there is no topic ive held back on and she helped me out through a real rough patch i was having

i find it interesting me, dh and her are all Leo's born in August

I've know my bf since we were 6. We have a history of fighting a lot so many years, we weren't talking off and on. We are close in the sense that we can tell eachother anything, but not in the sense that we call eachother everyday.

I've known my best friend for 27 years. We met in kindergarten. I don't think years have anything to do with it. We just 'get' each other. We also have the same name and lived within two blocks of each other. Despite being so far away from her, I still consider her my best friend.
