Spin-off to Beth's post from the other day...
Is anyone else hyper-aware of noise from outside now? Just a few minutes ago I heard yelling outside. DH heard it too and paused the TV and we opened the window (we're on the 6th floor of a building) and I honestly couldn't tell for a few minutes if it was kids playing or what. It took a few but we determined that it was kids playing in the snow, but no joke I had phone in hand and was 100% about to call 911 and tell DH to go down and check it out!

I've always been like that. Always. I am notorious for always having to investigate things. DH hates it and says it will end up with me dead somewhere, but I can't help it.

yup, between the snowplows and the children (well, a few hours ago), i kept peeking out the window. then i realized the windows are covered with snow so it was a bit ineffective. but yeah, i'm right there with ya.

Re: Spin-off to Beth's post from the other day...
You know, I have to believe there is some underlying reason... a chain of events in play... for why I went through that the other night. And maybe it is so that someone on here, or anyone else I've talked to about it, is more alert and ends up saving someone else's life. So, in a way I'm glad it happened if it serves to heighten awareness to everyone's surroundings.
The woman who helped me and stayed with me until the cops arrived - she told me it was fate because she never walks the dog, and that night, her son begged and begged her to walk the dog with him so she begrudgingly agreed. And god knows what would have happened if she wasn't there with her son and dog, for me to run to when no one came out if their house to help me... I think this is where the chain of events started... and who knows where it will end, but my hope is that some good will come out of it.
So, good.... I'm glad it made an impact!

Beth, that is such a wonderful outlook in light of what happened. As I went to the window I was telling DH your story and he was very moved. I think we are both the kind of people who have always responded to or investigated suspicious yelling, but more so now than before for sure!

Re: Spin-off to Beth's post from the other day...
I usually always am but its because Im nosy. about a day before her post I was at work and some kids were walking by and the girl was screaming help=we ran to the window but it was just a group of kids playing around. no help was actually needed but I def would have called for help if I thought the slightest chance they needed it.
