Spin Off to Care Package for brother-
Since reading maybebaby's post it made me think of all the other solders who are deployed that aren't getting care packages. I have quite a few friends in the Marines who have been deployed and I enjoyed sending care packages to them.
Does anyone know of any websites that might have info. about sending care packages to our soldiers? I would love to do this for our men and women who are deployed especially since the holidays are coming up.

they tell you how to send care packages and what they need.
i send my BIL stuff and its amazing the things we take for granted that he wants--he gets excited over toilet paper, razors, and magazines!

also, if you are currently sending to someone, ask who in their unit isn't getting much.
I did that with my brother and my girlfriend..found out who in their unit wasn't getting, and we sent to them too.
it was nice b/c they were already a "family" with my brother, so it felt more personal.
the two links posted are also great.
It kills me how some of our armed forces dont' have anyone at home sending to them.

I was just in a taxi and saw a program about a group who does this. They have tons of packages ready to go BUT NO $$$ TO SHIP THEM!! Can you donate to them? I'll try to find the information.

When my best friend was deployed in Iraq I would freak out when I got to talk to him on the computer and I was pretty much in tears when I got to talk to him on the phone. It was such a good feeling to know he was still alive.
I remember him telling me about how pretty much everyone in his unit had been killed there were times where I would have to hold back my tears because I didn't want to upset him. But being able to call and talk to him online really put things into perspective for me and made me realize how much we take for granted on a daily basis.

I always go back to refer to this page before I send a package: Anysoldier.com How to Send
Please note that they request food items sent separately from non-food items. It totally made sense once I read that the boxes are in 100+ degree heat for up to a month and the food all smells like the baby powder or whatever is in the box.
ETA: I always do USPS.

This is such a good idea. DH is always getting OK magazine, US weekly, stuff like that and after we read them we jst throw them away, maybe I should pass them on. Would it get to them too late or would they still enjoy it?

I just wanted to say THANK YOU for this thread again! I'm so glad I read it!
I already got my address and tonight I went to BJs and got almost everything my soldier was asking for. She was posting on behalf of her entire unit, so I am hoping that this stuff will benefit everyone in her squad.
I also spread the word to my family -- My parents are doing a care package also and each of my brothers' families are as well.
