I had one about three years ago that use to fry my hair, but worked at making my hair straight. It just made my hair very dry. Two years ago i got one of those ceramic iron ones (about $175) and it is soooo good. It makes my hair very shiny and never look dry. It also keeps my hair amazingly straight even on a humid day. Oh humid days my other flat iron would make my hair look worse.

ceramic ones supposedly work best. However, the one I have pulls my hair and I hate it. I heard the CHI is awesome
