spin off to shower list, anyone else find it hard

to put that list together? when we made the list out it came out to 35 people, from one side. i thought that was a lot considering my mom is paying and i really don't want to be greedy. we wound up cutting a few wifes of dh's friends and my mil's cousins, whom i haven't seen since the wedding. she is not happy, but i thought it was too far of a relation to be invited to my baby shower.

I would PREFER that people like MILs cousins not be invited, inlaws friends that I don't really know, or mothers of DH's friends just because I am not very comfortable with people I don't know that well. I prefer it to be very close friends and family, that way I will be more at ease.
but I am sure there will be some disagreements as to the guest list.

i just started my list today and i have about 40 people. mostly friends and close families. no inlaws of inlaws or friends of inlaws.
