Spinoff---As a Met fan, you know what's embarassing to me?

Reading some of the most recent threads, I have to say, what I dislike the most about some Met fans is their constant attacks on the Yankees. OK, so our team didn't win...what the he!! does that have to do with the Yankees?

My DH is a rabid Yankee fan as I am a Met fan and we've been pretty contentious through certain years (2000 anyone?), but what one team has to do with the other is beyond me, except for the Subway Series. I've been to Yankee Stadium and I have NEVER heard a "Mets s u c k!" chant once. Why do I hear it every time I go to Shea Stadium??? My DH doesn't even want to go to Shea anymore with me for that reason. I can't blame him. It is immature and embarassing. OK, I've said my piece!

I HAVE TO AGREE WHOLE HEARTEDLY

Although i am the Yankee fan and DH is the Met fan...

When we first started dating and really up until recently we both were very strong minded angry fans..

It was a constant battle regardless...A constant pointing of the finger ...

But i would say in the last year or two we have come to be able to speak of them objectively...

And i agree...one relly has NOTHING WHAT-SO-EVER to do with the other unless they are playing against each other...And even then

Fans should really be able to give criticism or raves to either team based on merit alone..

Why people have to harbor such anger is just silly....

In fact it is childish and immature...

You know I think it is who the fan is because it goes both ways. I feel Yankee fans are more arrogant and nasty to us mets fans. While DH thinks the same as you and he is a Yankee fan. We have had this exact conversation so many times recently!!

I feel like many Yankee fans have to point out every mistake the Mets make and so on and get in your face to make you feel bad. I walk into work and I have 12 people laughing at me after an embarassing loss or something like that and I never talk sh$t about the yankees like that. I am a quiet fan and don't even talk sports to half these 12 laughing at me and half of these people know nothing about baseball - they just talk sh$t. I find most of my Mets fans friends are like me. But my Yankee fan friends are rubbing things in. So I guess it's who you know.

And I have heard mets suck at Yankee stadium. I have seen violence and anger to mets fans just for being in "their stadium" thus why I will never wear my jersey there unless it is a mets/Yankee game.

very true...

i really don't think it is about the Met fan or the Yankee fan but more THE FAN

i think it all boils down to immaturity

but on this board...the immature, in consequential, irrelevant comments, retorts...aren't from the Yankee fans IMO.

at least i am not seeing it

I honestly haven't been only this board much so I can't say on this board...I have seen a little of both in the little I read.

But yes - to me it is the fan and the fans level of maturity.

I agree with you. I've had my fair share of ribbing from obnoxious Yankee fans, but I also hate when Met fans act that way. I hate the constant "Yankees Suck" chanting at Shea. First of all, they did that at Fenway Park long before they started it at Shea, and at Fenway it makes much more sense. Second, if we aren't playing the Yankees, who the heck cares what you think of them? How about a "Let's Go Mets" chant instead!!!
