As far as why it skeeves me out...
I'm not a germaphobe in any other area of life, but the air in a public bathroom has so much bacteria and so many germs. When you flush those toilets, germs come up into the air. People are touching everything with germ-infested hands. It seems like an unsanitary place for a toothbrush. Also, disease can get into your gums and enter your bloodstream. It just seems like too much of a risk for me, personally.
So smiling and mouth breathing are also a no-no in public bathrooms?
I'm all for not touching anything in a public bathroom without a paper towel in hand but a bloodstream infection from brushing your teeth at work seems a wee bit far-fetched...

You can brush your teeth if you want. I'm not going to start. Different people are skeeved out by different things.

I don't understand: people who are too afraid of germs to brush their teeth at work, do they place the toothbrushes directly on the sinks or the toilets? What difference does it make where one brushes if the toothbrush is not touching anything but the teeth of its owner!
I am just trying to follow the logic, very curious as to the thought process here...

Those who find brushing in public nasty because of germs in the air, what do you do with your toothbrushes at home? Are they in some airtight container?

We keep ours in the medicine cabinet.
I just find the brushing at work to be gross because I've seen people spitting into the sink and their spit sprays all over the faucet handles
There are often threads on here about how disgusting everyone's coworkers are... So I would assume the same disgusting people aren't worried about keeping the bathroom clean and wiping up after themselves.

1. My toothbrush is not near my toilet. 2. I can ventilate my bathroom by opening a window or the door. 3. I am not flushing my toilet while brushing my teeth. The lid on the toilet is closed. 4. No one else is standing in my bathroom flushing the toilet while I am brushing my teeth. 5. I imagine that a public toilet needs more power in its system to deal with the constant flushing, creating a greater expulsion than a bathroom at home.

All of this. I keep my toothbrush in the medicine cabinet, where I know it's clean and always flush with the lid shut

I have a crest spin brush that came with a cover that goes over the bristles. I also keep it in the medicine cabinet.

Good point. My strangest... I am so grossed out by "street clothes" touching my bed. Like coming home from work and sitting on the bed to change clothes makes me want to vomit, I think of all of the germs and dirt from the train, conference room chairs, restaurant seats... UGH And pretty much everyone i Know makes fun of me for it.

Hahahahahaha serious toothpaste foamer hahahahaha
I only ever brushed my teeth at work if I was going to a dentist appointment right after.
I also skeeved when people did it but mainly bc of what others were saying - the sink spitting. I never want to watch someone spitting in general let alone in the sink I may be using next
Blech
