i sold a house to a couple and 2 weeks later saw them at my open house in a completely different town! it was the same style house (center hall colonial) and they were looking for decorating tips.

We went back to a house we had seen with our realtor while they were having an open house, because i LOVED the way it was decorated. I even took pics discreetly on my camera phone. I told the realtor what we were doing though, only because she now lives around the block from us, and her husband was the attorney on the purchase of the house we were already in contract for.

Loud and proud!! I always make up a story like I'm looking for my in-laws we live right around the block..
When we lived in a condo our excuse was, we are thinking about upgrading from a two bedroom to a three. Our excuse now is we have friends looking to move to our town and we told them we would keep an eye out for anything good! I wonder if any of the agents actually buy any of this!

Hopefully but I try not to take up much of their time anyway. I'll say oh I'll just look around and take a flyer-then I bring it home to DH and he says well its not sold yet.....

When we were selling, our REA was happy that neighbors came by, for exactly your reason. If they have friends that are looking in the area.
