Spinoff - dremel tool (GoldenRod and other handy people- please help)...
DH has a drill and bit set. Some other tools as well...
Is it redundant to get a Dremel? Do you find it useful?
TIA!

We bought ours to do our dog's nails! We also have a drill set. The sander is pretty handy. I can use it for engraving too. It can be used as a cutting tool.
I think once you have one, you find uses for it, and it's cool to have and not that expensive. In Lowes they have a section where you can buy whatever attachments you want individually.

We have one and DH loves it. It don't think it's redundant to buy this. But the one thing I will mention is that I bought my DH the cordless one and it doesn't keep the battery life that long, so you might want to buy the corded one instead. They also sell different Dremels, so look at the boxes and see what the different versions do. GL! Oh and a Dremel gets into places you probably can't get to with some large tools. And it does more detailed work. HTH!

I have a cordless drill, a cordless drill, a corded Dremel and a cordless Dremel.... they all have their purposes, and I don't think any of them are redundant. Especially between a drill and a dremel. It's like comparing a magnifying glass and a telescope. They both make things look bigger, but serve two totally different objectives.
The cordless Dremel is handy for quick tasks where using a cord is a pain. Cutting a nail that's sticking out, doing some fine sanding in a small area, cleaning out the grout around a tile or two. It's very convenient, but the battery doesn't last long. If you want to do something longer, the corded version is better. For starters, I would go with the corded version. It's more universal, since you can always run an extension cord if you really need it.
I use mine quite a bit. The most recent use was cleaning off the wood glue on my stair treads. It's super strong glue, so I needed something powerful to grind it down. There are over a dozen stairs, so I used the corded version. The variable speed is great. I just dialed it in so it was fast enough to grind down the glue, but didn't grind the wood very much, so it was easy to stop when I hit the wood.
