spinoff -Birkin bag
Let me first say, I looooove bags, designer or non designer , but I just don't see what's so special about Birkin bag . When I see one it just makes me think of an old lady
Is it just me or does anyone else feel this way?

It's not just you, I agree! I feel like this bag represents prestige/money and having it carries so much weight nobody even cares what it looks like cause "it's the Birkin". But really, it is an old lady bag, a very expensive, beautifully crafted old lady bag

I am not into designer bags at all, and only recently learned what a Birkin bag is, and I really love the shape of it. For me, it has nothing to do with the name or prestige.
Most other designers bag I think are too busy & clunky & just not pretty. i don't understand waht the big deal is over those, b/c I wouldn't use them if they were free.
This I think is really pretty & while I still wouldn't buy it, I wouldn't say no if someone wanted to give me one.
Maybe I'm just an old lady at heart. (I do wear my grandma's costume jewelry )

I really like structured bags (the hobo is cute, but sooo not me). The Birken has a timeless, albeit very tailored look. I think I like the fact that it will not og out of style.
I just got the Coach Madeline bag which is a smaller bag in a similar shape.

I love it and it is my someday bag. I really can't imagine paying as much as a small car for a bag when there are so many other bags that are as nice for waaay less.

I only know about Birkin bags from Gilmore Girls -- Logan bought one for Rory.
I don't even remember what it looks like because I was in an anti-Rory stage and didn't watch the scene...

I like that because I got really anti-Rory after the big fight with Lorelei and never liked how she acted when she was with Logan.
I forgot he got her that bag. I *think* it was a pink one....

Me too! Emily was so jealous that Rory had one. lol. I miss that show.

I am trying to find a way to get it from her ( I will pay)
it was her late sisters- she apparently dated a big time mobster in the 70s and from what I have heard- the collection of designer stuff she had is crazy

8K is on the low end too for a Birkin. Those bags can go up to 40k+.
I like it it's shape and the options available: from size, leathers, hardware, colors. It's a timeless design, but yet also functional.
I know some see it as being too big, but Birkins do come in a variety of sizes from the JPG all the way up to the HAC.

I wouldn't say no to a Birkin! I think $8,000 is expensive, but some people can afford that. I would never judge anyone b/c of what they spend their own money on.
