Spinoff: Castor Oil

Has anyone else heard that it is dangerous and not worth it?

I've heard that it is not recommended because because besides giving you diarrhea it could also give your baby diarrhea and cause them to have a movement while still inside which of course could lead to meconium ingestion.

I've tried pretty much all the home remedies to bring on labor within the past few days except the castor oil for this reason.

Re: Spinoff: Castor Oil

Castor oil is NOT safe for the reason Mrs. Maz stated...it is dangerous for the baby to ingest merconium and SO NOT WORTH IT...imho

If your doctor thinks the baby is ready to come out, he will induce you. That is my 2 cents Chat Icon

Re: Spinoff: Castor Oil

I wouldnt do it.

I have heard scary stories about it.

Although I do know some midwives who use it...so whos to say the Dr's arent being just very cautious?

BUT I would rather be cautious.

I would think that whatever castor oil does to you (makes you go) it would do to the baby. We all know how dangerous muconium aspiration can be for an infant.....

Re: Spinoff: Castor Oil

i tired it with my last.

the woman who sold it for me said it worked for her, however it didn't do anything for me. Maybe I didn't drink enough or whatever. I did get stronger contractions, however I wound up in the potty all night.
