Spinoff: Christening Dress for Boys?
Hi,
I have not been to a Christening for ages, and very few for boys at that--mostly girls in my memory.
What do you put on a boy for a Christening? Does anyone use gowns for them also, or is this a girl thing?
TIA!

We also used a gown for DS. It was worn by my MIL, DH, & BIL. If we did not use that one, I still would have purchased a gown for him.

Thanks! I wasn't sure--the last one I saw was for a male cousin, but that was about 30 years ago! He wore a gown.
The little white suit idea is cute too.

Re: Spinoff: Christening Dress for Boys?
My DS wore a family heirloom gown. It was an Irish Linen smocked christening gown. DH, MIL and all her siblings and their kids were christened in it.
If he had not worn that, I would have also gotten him a gown.
ETA that when I had DD, I was adamant about not having her wear that gown because it wasn't what I envisioned my DD to be christened in.

They sell christening gowns for boys. My DS wore a shirt vest bow tie thing on top, knickers on the bottom, and a long jacket with tails. I have pictures of it in my photo albums.

Josh was in a gown. Leo's grandmother made it for him. I think it also depends on the age of the baby boy. Mine was 3 weeks old, so a gown worked for us.

I don't think this exactly the one, but DS wore something along these lines: Image Attachment(s):

Re: Spinoff: Christening Dress for Boys?
We have a family gown that I wore as did all my siblings. If it fits DS, he will wear it, if not, I will just buy him a little suit.

Re: Spinoff: Christening Dress for Boys?
My DS wore a gown for the church part of the christening.. my mom had purchased it in Belgium so my sisters and I could start our own tradition..it was beautiful and he was the first to wear it!!!
But.. for the party after I bought him a little silk white outfit that a lot of boys wear these days..
I just wanted to add.. my DS was 8 months old when we had him christened.. and it didn't look weird or anything.. his gown was really long
