when i still had it- i took out my nose ring when i interviewed.
my tatoo is discrete anyway, so that wasn't a consideration

I remove my nose ring for both work, and interviews when I was interviewing.

if its noticable...yes.

it also depends on the job you are going for....looking for a banking job...dont show up with tats all over the place and 20 piercings in your face...you WONT get the job...

working in a bar....maybe they will look past the tats and piercings

Re: spinoff: Cover Tattoos/REmove Piercings for interview?

i went on an interview once a loooong time ago and wore my hair in an updo and was worried they would not like my tat on the nape of my neck....
(they didnt care) but i was alittle concerned....

now i am working on a sleeve, therefore thats harder to cover up... unless its cold enough to wear long sleeves....

but i dont have to worry about it b/c ill never have an interview again.... (after bartending ill be focusing on my business and work on opening up my own bar) so, ill be doing teh interviewingChat Icon

Agree.

I don't know if anyone watches Miami Ink, but I CLEARLY remember them NOT even accepting an interview with people with NO TATS...same goes for the corporate world.

You need to "fit" the part.

I have a tattoo on my ankle and I wear a pants suit for interviews.....I do not need to not get the job because of that

Once I had the job, I will wear skirts to work and I have no problem with that

oh i forgot... they asked if i had any questions (i was hired by this point) and i asked how they feel about visible tattoos and they said they had no problem with it..... but this was not corp.

im always curious if corp is evolving with the times...

I do not think corp world will evolve that much. We need to look professional, bottom line.

I don't have any tats or piercings other than my ears, but this thread reminds me of something.

a few years ago, I was managing a customer service group and was part of the interviewing process. a candidate met with HR first, then I would meet with them and finally, my boss.

this one woman (young 20's) had her tongue pierced and i couldn't stop staring at it. I am not a stick in the mud and have the "to each his own" attitude, but this piercing made her slur her speech. she sounded drunk! I couldn't get past it... neither could my boss. she didn't get the job.

There are several people here with tatoos they are pretty discreet though. A few lower back ones, some on the shoulder, etc. Nothing that jumps out at anyone though.
