Spinoff: Did you believe in any "unusual" magical creatures?
Aside from the standards - Santa, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy - did you believe in any sort of other similar magical creatures when you were little?
In my house, we had Cupid on Valentines Day. My parents told me that he would fly through the window on "Valentines Eve," and he would leave presents for all of us.
Anytime I tell people about that, they think it's so bizarre, so I'm wondering if anyone had anything similar!

My mom did Cupid too and the Leprechaun on St. Patricks day. We'd get little things, some candy, a hair bow for the holiday and maybe a book or movie.

I believed in just about everything- leprechauns, ghosts, vampires, witches (I swore the old lady next door was a witch!), the Easter bunny. When I was 4 I believed there was a family of bears living behind my wall. I believed I had an imaginary friend named Indiana Jones.
I was a very imaginative child.

Is there a story behind the family of bears or just something you thought up? That's so funny!

We do St Nicholas Day on December 6, and fill stockings then...not sure that counts.
My family is Irish and I was brought up on stories of changelings and faeries and whatnot. I believed when I was little.
My DS is very into "mystical" creatures, and I think he secretly believes many of them are real! He and my DH have lots of cryptozoology books and are constantly talking about the Jersey devil, chupachabras, panthers in the everglades, the American lion, the European kangaroo... they are weird guys.
