Spinoff- Do you think nationalities create an unnecessary seperation?
When I was 12, I moved to Seattle. My family was always "Irish" even though my parents were born here. We moved out there and no one had a clue what their nationality was.
In FL, forget about it. To them, it is all about the state you come from..native or not. No one speaks of nationalities.
I have to admit, since moving back, I am getting tired of the nationality questions. Not on here, just all the time. Bus drivers, mailman, waitresses...everyone with what are you?
I love that my parents are baffled that only one of us is with another Irishmen...well geez..well no wonder, we don't live there
Do you think it causes more of a breakdown then a build up? Sharing traditions and all that is fine. I guess I am really against the generalizations...
I don't think everyone should claim American, but if you are here and your parents are from here..it would just make more sense to me.
