Spinoff from "24" - what are your thoughts on profiling?
in this season of "24", Islamic terrorists are targeting US cities with suicide bombers. malls, buses, schools, trains, etc.
in the show, the FBI is shown arresting random Muslim men. this is a very sensitive topic these days... so I am wondering how you would feel about this if GOD FORBID this were to actually happen here one day.

I dont agree with it at all...its almost as if history is repeating itself...like back during WWII when all the Japanese-Americas were "rounded" up and put in camps. That didnt help anything

I probably wouldn't like it considering my husband was born in the Middle East

I am against ethnic profiling but the show is very compelling. citizens are not leaving their homes b/c of fear. they are pitted against each other. bombs are going off every hour, 1000's of Americans dead.
it's a horrible thing to even think about! but unfortunately, it could happen.

Re: Spinoff from "24" - what are your thoughts on profiling?
I think to some extent profiling is a necessary evil.
I would hope that the arrests (IRL, not on "24") are not as random as they appear. I think our government would do a little investigation before arresting/detaining people.
You need a profile of a possible terrorist juat as you need a profile of a serial killer. I don't see a difference between looking at white social inept males (serial killer profile) vs. religious fundamentalists who happen to be Muslim. Of course there will always be the anamoly that doesn't fit the profile, but for the greater good it's a necessary evil.
I wouldn't like it but I think what I would like even less is the damage that could be done if profiling didn't exist.
