Spinoff of myself- small SUV suggestions?
Hello all- we're going shopping this weekend- looking for something PREFERABLY below $20k, but anywhere around there is the general idea.
My requirements are that it get decent gas mileage, thus a 4 cylinder option is best.
Now throw me some suggestions.
I like the Jeep Patriot and the Honda Element. Probably going to look at the Mazda Tribute too. Ummm and maybe the Subaru WRX wagon, just because we like to torture ourselves.

Re: Spinoff of myself- small SUV suggestions?
i posted this a bunch on here before, but i LOVE LOVE LOVE my 2006 RAV 4. they are bigger and better looking than the older models, and are just such well-made cars! they are so comfortable to drive- i'm barely 5 feet, and DH is like 6'2'', and we're both comfortable driving it. they are also good on gas- i have the 4 cylinder, which is plenty fast ( even DH who drives a subaru WRX is happy with it!) and i get about 24 mpg in-town, even better on the highway- so its really not much "worse" than most cars out there. definitely worth checking out!!

My friend has the element with twins and let me tell you, it is the easiest thing with a baby-you can get in and almost stand up. Change a diaper, hose out teh inside, etc.

Ford Edge starts at 25K Once you put items in The Ford Escape it is at least 25K, unless you don't need floor mats or a CD player.
I looked at the Honda FJ Cruiser. I think it is a great car, but I am not sure of the price.

I love my Liberty, and it is perfect for US because we don't plan to have two kids in carseats (or another kid at all) but I have NO idea how you could fit more than one kid in it.
Just something to think about if you plan on having two kids while in this car

Re: Spinoff of myself- small SUV suggestions?
We recently leased a Ford Edge. More than 20K but we didn't get the basic model.
But, love everything about it!! And would certainly recommend it to anyone who will listen.

I have the Saturn Vue Red Line. I love it! I think the base model of the Vue is just over $20K.

My mom has a Rav 4....I love it. It has great *Zip* for a 4 cyl, and it handled really well in the snow the other day.

Re: Spinoff of myself- small SUV suggestions?
I'm in the market as well and test drove the following:
CR-V: nice cargo space, pep, nice handling, nice features. It's a Honda, can't really go wrong here.
Subaru Forester: I loved everything about this car/SUV and will most likely be purchasing it. Great cargo space, handling and features. Great gas mileage (slightly better than the CR-V) and fantastic emissions...the closest to a hybrid you can get. The moonroof is to die for.
Subaru Outback: Same as above...I liked the more refined features but preferred the height of the Forester.
