Spinoff of Santa post... Any nice Santa memories??
I was always worried every year that Santa wouldn't come in and leave us gifts because my dad, chronic insomniac, was always sacked out on the sofa watching t.v. late at night. My dad always told me that when Santa came in he would sprinkle "magic dust" on him in order to get him to sleep.
My dad said Santa also brought Rudolph in the apt. one time and he made a mess. He spilled our milk almost every year and had messy handwriting. We always thought Santa was such a slob.

When I was growing up we could see the red light flashing on top of the tallest building in our town - but on Christmas Eve my parents would tell us it was Rudolph, so we had to get to bed because he was almost to our house - and Santa wouldn't come if we were still awake!

Ah, I remember my grandmother used to spend Christmas Eve at our house and I would always sleep with her in the guest bedroom. And from that room you could see the skylight we had in our living room and to this day I am convinced that I saw Rudolph's nose flashing in the skylight. (although it was probably just the reflection of the tree lights)

Every Christmas Eve we went out for Chinese food. On the way home WALK 97.5 would have the Santa locator updates. I remember getting so excited as they would describe him in the sky!!
We would also then drive around all the neighborhoods that had the best Christmas decorations!!

when i was a little , I SWEAR to you I heard footsteps on the roof on christmas eve.
I told everyone Christmas day that I actually heard the prancing & pawing of each little hoof -- they must of thought I was the dorkiest child!

Oh,I remember there was a telephone hotline that I used to call on Christmas Eve that would give you Santa's location.

Did anyone's dad do the standard...
"well kids, I just heard on the radio, Santa may not be able to fly tonight with this weather...don't know if he is going to make it for Christmas"
Mine did every Christmas Eve night

Re: Spinoff of Santa post... Any nice Santa memories??
- my brother and i wanted a picture of santa dropping off my presents and my parent said they would try and sneak it....christmas morning they said they got one and when the film was developed sure enough it was there...later found out my dad had dressed up to get the shot
- my mom used to ring jingle bells outside our window, and i used to have panic attacks that i wasnt asleep yet so he would skip our house
- my mom would always leave a santa present outside our bedroom doors to try and keep us from waking them up a little while longer. i was always so excited to wake up and get that first present..didn't really help much my brother and i used to set our alarm for 3:30 am and wake my parents up to go downstairs

My mom would always ring bells from the other room while we were trying to go to sleep and then come in and ask us if we heard that...that he was close!
I too ALWAYS heard footstep outside the house. Once or twice mom made filling our stockings noticeable (they hung on our door) and we thought it was santa out there.
Ahhh the memories..I wish I still believed I swear!

I have the best story about those updates. My cousin was a little older about 9-10 years old and my other cousins were about 7 and 3. She was starting not to believe in Santa. So, they were listening to the updates on the way home from our great aunt's on Christmas Eve, it was about 11:30 at night. So, WALK says "Santa is on his way back to the North Pole now" and they get home and of course there are no presents out yet. My cousin starts HYSTERICAL crying about how because she didn't believe anymore, her brother and sister were being punished and she was so sorry. So my aunt and uncle told her that they were going to get Santa to come back, but she had to go to sleep. So, she did and of course they put out the presents and she was SO relieved.

Re: Spinoff of Santa post... Any nice Santa memories??
We have always gone to midnight mass at our church on Chirstmas Eve. After mass we would walk home because the church is right around the corner and my sister, brother and I would walk while looking up in the sky - on the look out for Santa and Rudolph...one night I SWORE I saw Rudolph's nose blink in the sky - probably some taillight of a plane but none the less...as soon as we got home we jumped right into bed...

Re: Spinoff of Santa post... Any nice Santa memories??
I have a sad story, but touching none the less. The first year of school, I was told about santa claus. I never knew about him beforehand. So when I questioned my parents about it, they told me there was no such thing. At the time, my great Aunt Maria lived upstairs from us and she was always my angel. I went upstairs and I cried to her and she comforted me and told me if I believed hard enough, he would come and leave me a present. So come christmas morning, I opened all my gifts, but sad that as hard as I believed in santa, there was no gift from him. My Aunt Maria called out to me and told me to come upstairs. She said Santa had indeed come, but that he was probably confused, because he left a gift for me under her tree. I instantly knew what she had done, and it warmed my heart. The next year she passed away, so it was my only present from santa. Its the best memory I have of her.

Sorry...this is not sentimental or mushy or sappy...but a SAnta memory for the books.
In high school, I was dared to give a mall Santa a lap dance.
I obliged.
Santa was the one given a gift THAT Christmas!
