Spinoff on smdl's post: Work vent
I finally had a breakdown this weekend.
I am a resident and do home call. This was the first of 3 consecutive weekends. It means that from Friday afternoon after a full day of work until Monday morning with a full day ahead of me I have to carry a beeper and can get called at any second.
This week was THE WORST. I love my patients and the staff and all, but this was way too much for me. I went in 17 times, several BIG emergencies requiring people going into surgery. I was awake from 6am Saturday until 10:30pm Sunday. Got woken up again last night at 3:30am. Oh, no I did sleep for 1 hour when I fell asleep sitting up waiting for a phone call...
It was made worse by DS crying every time I had to leave yesterday.
This is just too much for me. I really want to quit sometimes. But I know it will get better. I'm so lucky to have a good DS and a good family

OMG- what a horrible weekend for you. 
I admire you- I could not work on weekends- I would just have a breakdown.
I hope the next time you are on call you don't get one single call!

Wow, well, you win the Dr. Mommy award from me That's incredibly rough! You seem to have handled it really well if all you needed to do was vent to feel better. You should feel proud of yourself that you were able to do all that and still have time to sit down and type out this thread  So, as exhausted and overworked you are right now, feel good!
