Spinoff: Picking up new car on Wednesday, what should I look for? (concerned I am getting scammed)

I have put up a couple posts about buying a car because last Friday, we put down a deposit for a new car. We will finish the paperwork and pick up the car Wednesday.

I am starting to get concerned because we got an excellent price, about $800 - $1000 less than other dealers. In fact, according to edmund.com, we got it for less than invoice price. I am wondering, what is the catch? How can the dealer afford to sell it so much lower than others?

I haven't seen the actual car I am buying yet. So on Wednesday, when I go to pick up the car, what should I look for and ask to make sure everything is ok?

TIA

Pick up in daylight or very well lit area. Look for scratches in and out VERY CAREFULLY!

VIN number in car should match that on your receipt...all features promised present...

Read the window sticker and make sure ALL of the items listed match what was discussed as far as options and standard items on the car...i got a brand new car delivered once that did NOT have the side air bags I ordered...i made them take it back & get me a new one...

Make sure everything works!!! Yrs. ago, we bought a Buick Skylark, new, and shortly after we had it a window came off the track. There were other issues that we had not noticed when looking at the car too. Check everything!!!! Mary

We bought our car below invoice, brand new and we never saw the car until the day we picked it up. And to this day the car runs great!

It was because of manufacturer-to-dealer incentives that we got the car below invoice. Maybe that's the same in your case?

I would make sure the mileage is less than 100.

And check everything. Make sure everything works. No dings, dents, scratches.

Confirm it has all the options you negotiated.

It isn't uncommon for someone to get a deal that's lower than dealer invoice. That doesn't mean they are losing money.

Every car that I have ever purchased, for myself and others, has been below dealer invoice. I have negotiated the purchase of 7 cars at this point from a variety of dealers and manufacturers. The dealer has sales incentives from the manufacturer and other unadvertised rebates. They are still able to make a profit, a small one, and you can still get a good price on a car.
