Spinoff to - TTC & Telling People....

When you do get pregnant when do you think you will tell?

And will you wait different time periods dending on who?

When I was pregnant, I told my mom at about 7 wks and the plan was to tell the rest of our immediate family at almost 9 wks, after we had a successful sono which we went for a 8w1d. It obviously wasn't successful, so instead of announcing, we shared the news of the m/c around 9wks.

If/when we get pregnant again, I'll probably do the same thing. DH would probably like to wait it out for 12wks but now that our immediate family knows we're trying, I think we'll just wait until we hear the heartbeat.

Friends & extended family I plan to tell later - 12wks minimum.

ETS: I won't tell work until it is obvious.

I will tell my sister and Best friend right away. The rest will be told from 3 months to 4 months. ( Even family!)

I'm on the fence....I would like to tell my close friends and family as soon as I find out...because if something goes wrong they are the ones that I want to be there for me anyway.

But the superstitious part of me doesn't want to tell anyone but my DH (and you girls ) until I'm 8-12 weeks.

I will tell my mom, ASAP. Everyone else will have to wait until I show or 3-4 months. I dont like to jinx things.

Aside from DH, no one will know until 12 weeks. That is just how we feel about it.

We will tell immediate family (both sides) probably pretty much when we find out. I will tell my best friend then also.

Everyone else I think 12 weeks+.

At 8 weeks (first appt): our parents and possibly siblings, not sure yet

At 12 weeks (2nd appt): everyone else

I always thought I would wait but as soon as we got our bfp, I called my mom and his and then we told everyone the next day...plus I started to show very early....At 8 1/2 weeks I had a m/c and had to tell all that...next time I would still do the same...telling people about a m/c when they didnt' know about the pg in the first place was awkward...plus we had all the prayers and support of family and friends while we were going through it.

My sister told the immediate family right away (she was 5 or 6 weeks) the rest of the family and her friends she told at 14 weeks

When we get our BFP I will only tell my mom and sis. Between 8-12wks we will start to tell our family and friends.

Parents and siblings will be told within the first couple of weeks. Everyone else will have to wait until DH and I feel comfortable enough to share. Probably 12 weeks.

I'd like to tell my parents at 6 weeks and DH's immediate family at 12 weeks. We'll see how that goes, though. He wants to tell both sides at the same time but my logic is that I'm very close to my parents he is not close with his family at all and only speaks to them about once a month (and sees them a few times per year). Friends probably at the same time and work only when it's necessary.

This is IMHO one of those best laid plans things. I think that the desire to wait until safely out of the high % of m/c time period will probably win out on when to tell people, but then again the thought of not telling my sister for 13 weeks just seems inconceivable to me.

we'll likely tell right away. We cannot keep a secret and if something bad happens G@d forbid, I would want my family's support right away.

We told immediate family right away, extended family and friends at 12 weeks with 1st pg.

We told everyone right after our first sono and we saw the heartbeat with #2.

we told Dh parents and my parents and my siblings right away. And I am trying to wait till 12 weeks to tell everyone else. I am only 8 weeks now.
