Spinoff to buying lunch at work. Cafeteria?

I noticed in the other thread that some people say they buy lunch in order to socialize. We have a full cafeteria in the building, so the people who buy lunch and the people who bring lunch socialize the same amount, since we all sit together at the same tables.

ETA: "fully stocked cafeteria" means a staff that cooks the food. I should have put "fully staffed cafeteria".

We have a lunch room with attached kitchen that has vending machines, two microwaves, sink, huge fridge and keurig coffee system.
I usually eat at my desk though. It's too noisy in the lunch room, between the conversations and the tv.

I work at college writing centers. In my department at both, there's a small room with the fridge, microwave, sink, paper goods, etc.

Writing centers seem to be a depository for food, as people are always bringing us snacks, which is pretty awesome. There's also plenty of dining options on both campuses.

I just eat in the writing center though. If I work from home, then of course, I eat at home.

We have a large break room with tables, comfy chairs, microwaves, coffers and tea, sink, tv, and a few vending machines.

Within our building is a pretty good deli, a bar, a newsstand, and a cafe...we can go to any of these places without leaving the building. Great for cold/bad-weather days if you need to get some grub :)

We have a "lunch room" with tables and chairs and vending machines but that's it. Sometimes if there's food leftover from a meeting and the attorneys aren't being greedy, it'll go in the lunch room, but that's few and far between. Many people buy their food and eat it in the lunch room, but just as many bring their food and eat it in there. There's also a fridge and a microwave so that's where everyone stores and heats up their food.

my office building has a cafeteria, but our right to use it is negotiated into our lease (as our building is owned by a larger company). The people who work for the company that owns the building get a discount but we don't :(. The food is fine, nothing special but it's annoying because after 2pm all they keep open are the cookies and salad bar (which is minimal to begin with). I don't usually sit there to eat, I go back to my desk.

We have a lunch room with a vending machine, fridge, micorwaves, toaster and toaster oven, coffee pot and keurig system...

We go out every day to just take that well needed break, but I know many in my office who just don't have the time and eat at their desks.

Hubby has a cafeteria and it's not thatg expensive, so that's how he justifies eating at work.

I've never worked in an office with a cafeteria. Wherever Zi worked I managed to find a Subway or a falafel place. mostly subway.

I loved working in the East Village because there were so many food choices. I miss that. For a year I've been begging Dh to bring me home a vegetarian bahn mi

Restaurant Associates runs our cafes at all locations.

It's a pretty stocked cafeteria with a good amount of sitting areas. Once in a while I will sit down there and I go for some breakfasts and lunches every now and then.

We have a cafeteria in my building and it is really cheap. Today I got an egg sandwich for breakfast that was $1.38, and for lunch I had soup and rice and that was $2.37.

Can't pack food for much cheaper than that! This is one of the best parts of my job, lol. And my office provides us with all beverages (including soda and water bottles), so I never have to buy a drink.

Re: Spinoff to buying lunch at work. Cafeteria?

There is no cafeteria or break room in my building. You either eat at your desk, or you go out. There is a tiny convenience store in my building to buy a snack or a drink, but that's it.

My company "rents" office space from another company, so we are only entitled to those 2 rooms. We are able to use the other companys bathrooms but we don't use their break room. We either go out for lunch, or eat at our desks.

Eta- there's only 3 of us in our company as we're a satellite office for a larger company located in FL.

We don't even have a vending machine.
We have a dorm sized fridge, that doesn't fit the lunches of all 15 employees if everyone happens to bring something. We do have coffee, tea, a water cooler, and sometimes bottled water. Oddly we also have a sink with real dishes, glasses, and utensils, but no place to eat.
