Spinoff to confession post
What is your normal intake of fruits and veggies daily...I just can't stomach them right now, but when I can, I want to know what should or is acceptable....

Re: Spinoff to confession post
if fruit juices count , like oj and cranberry juice then I guess 5. I usually have a glass of oj with breakfast, fruit cup at lunch, an orange or banana during the day, veggies with dinner, and a glass of cranberry juice sometime in the pm.

Re: Spinoff to confession post
In the first trimester anything remotely healthy made me sick to my stomach.
Now I eat about 3-4 servings of fruit a day...and about 3 servings (on average) of veggies. I don't think it's the "recommended" servings...but it's what I do.

Re: Spinoff to confession post
I'd say 1-2 servings of fruit daily and 3-4 servings of veggies. When fruit comes more into season I will be eating much more of it. I can't wait till the farm stands open!!!!!!

Re: Spinoff to confession post
between the V8, the salads, and the fruit, I would say about 6 generous servings a day? Some days not too much, but other days I go way overboard....

Re: Spinoff to confession post
Fruits I am good on. Probably 5 servings, maybe 6 a day.
Veggies.....well...I try I usually have green beans or corn for dinner(the only veggies DD will touch.) And I will have salads a few times a week but that is it.

Re: Spinoff to confession post
Right now, my intake is shameful. If it isnt covered in sugar, frosting or chocolate chips...... I really have to improve it. I bought some fruit and stuff to make a big salad today so i will have enough left over to pick on. I am hoping I will get better once the morning sickness passes.

when I had my food aversions, I ate NO veggies at all.... they totally made me super There was no WAY I could eat one.... but I DID eat a lot of fruit at that time (fruit, yogurt, cottage cheese, crackers, and buttered pasta were all I could eat!)
hate to say it, but I presumed in this post that we were discussing veggie consumption while we're not experiencing m/s or aversions....
to anyone forcing down veggies under those harsh situations!

Re: Spinoff to confession post
i have always loved fruits and veggies
being preggo has given me an excuse to eat them
On the way to the train station I eat an apple
I have OJ and watermelon for breakfast with a banana around 10 (or an orange)
I eat carrots for snack during the morning and afternoon with a dip
Lunch is a salad of spinach, tomato, avocado, carrots and ranch
dinner is usually with asparagus or broccoli (my favorite two green veggies) either stuffed, on the side, baked, mixed in, etc
I think Im good LOL
Funny part was until this moment I didn't realize how MUCH of veggies and fruit I ate!

Re: Spinoff to confession post
I eat a lot of veggies cause I'm not a big meat eater.
I didn't eat much fruit with this pregnancy, with my DD I ate so much of it.

Re: Spinoff to confession post
not as much as i should at all. i am addicted to carbs. i try to eat a veggie whenever it appeals to me but that's not often. i generally have at least an apple a day, and a veggie with dinner but i just can't stomach any salad except for greek salad now - and i can't exactly have that every day.
ETA: i do, however, drink a LOT of fruit juice - orange, apple and grape.

well, i was just agreeing with pickles that the veggie and fruit consumption is hard the first trimester. i usually eat several veggies at dinner but certainly not enough...more like bites than serving sizes

Re: Spinoff to confession post
you're a better woman than me! I tried to force down a bite or 2 in the mid-first trimester and simply couldn't do it... but by 10 weeks the veggies were back.... thankfully....

Re: Spinoff to confession post
I probably only eat about 3 servings of fruit/veggies a day.
My midwife said to eat no more than 1 fruit serving a day because fruit is high in sugar which turns into carbs which I guess then turns to fat?
