Re: Spinoff to Designer...
hell no
Because they grow out of it so fast, it rips, stains etc. Thats a waste to me.
I hope to have a few "cute" nice outfits for my son but I have been hitting the clearance racks at Target for everyday wear

Re: Spinoff to Designer...
I wouldn't buy designer items for an infant because I personally, couldn't justify spending money on designer stuff for myself. BUT, I wouldn't stop anyone from buying designer items for my child. I would never ask, but what people do with their own money is their own business. Years ago, my sister's and I bought our nephew (my brother's son) a Ralph Lauren snowsuit when he was a baby, but that's what some aunts do - AND it took 3 of us to be able to afford it!
My mother always says, in her heavily accented Jewish mother voice: "What does a baby need something so expensive to 'pish' in?"

I am pregnant and I have bought my little girl some Ralph Lauren dresses, but I'm not sure if you count that as designer?

Re: Spinoff to Designer...
I didn't buy "designer" per se, but I did buy my infant DD articles of clothing that were $60 a piece and the worst part is she never got to wear most of it.
If I saw something I really liked, I'd probably buy it. (Which is a bad mentality. I wish I was a bit more frugal with money.)

Re: Spinoff to Designer...
DH and I have talked about this and realized that kids outgrow their clothes so quickly it is not worth it to spend too much on them. We have found some cute baby clothes in Children's Place, Old Navy and Target.

Re: Spinoff to Designer...
While I definitely see things I love made by fancy baby names I just can't justify spending $50 or more on clothes my DD may wear once or twice. Most of her stuff is from Children's Place, Old Navy and BRU. I find GAP and Gymboree to be overpriced too unless you get a good sale. The only time I spend a little more is for "special" outfits like birthday and holidays.

Re: Spinoff to Designer...
I buy my son designer clothes however, I NEVER pay full price for anything..
His wadrobe is filled with Target (their shorts are the best- circo brand) Carter's Children's place , Old Navy, Gap , Ralph Lauren J&M Originals, Gold Rush, Mish Mish Puma Addidas and much more ..
And trust me I don't pay more than $15 an item, most under $10...
As long as he looks cute that is all that matters...

My SIL is holding a whole baby boy's wardrobe aside for me, and half the stuff is designer clothing hand me downs from her best friend. Watch me have 2 girls now.

Re: Spinoff to Designer...
Before DS was born I went to Century 21 and bought him some really cute things that happended to be RL and Hilfiger. I didn't more than $8 for each piece. I can't see spending full price on those name brands when they grow so fast. I mainly shop at Old Navy, Gap (on sale), Children's place and some times BRU for his stuff. Now I actually try not to buy him alot of stuff but stuff that I can mix and match because it is pointless to have so much cloths. He is 9.5 months old and I have 3 66gallon rubbermaid bins filled with cloths already.

Re: Spinoff to Designer...
if i like something and the price is fair i will probalby buy it.
i happen to have a soft spot for all the adorable ralph lauren clothes for kids- and they sell them at marshalls and the outlets and discounted at lord and taylor if you go during a sale
so price tag will over-rule brand name pretty much

Re: Spinoff to Designer...
not unless i see it at Marshalls or one of those places on super sale. There is no need when they grow so fast to spend a lot of money on clothes

Re: Spinoff to Designer...
No! Baby Gap and the like is the way I'll go. I can't see spending 60 bucks or more on something that won't fit in two months.

Re: Spinoff to Designer...
I do for occasions like holidays or parties...Some things are just so adorable, and theyre only little once...and Im saving money bc since my kids,I don't even shop for myself anymore!
I have found places like Century 21, Daffy's etc., discount say, Ralph Lauren-so I will never buy them full price at a department store... also Bloomingdales in the city has Burberry for infants&toddlers sometimes for 50% off.
But for everyday play clothes, Its so not worth it,bc they get it dirty after 1 wear and grow out of them so quickly.

Re: Spinoff to Designer...
Sure... I've bought a couple of things here and there, but nothing really expensive - always on sale.
I'm much more willing to spend on Jake than on myself. I've warned DH that this is only going to get worse.

Re: Spinoff to Designer...
Nope. I even feel uncomfortable dressing my daughter in designer clothing purchased by family members. DH's aunt got us a giftcard to buy clothes for her at Bloomies, and I just couldn't bring myself to spend $200 on a few designer outfits for a 9 month old...

Re: Spinoff to Designer...
I agree about the cute Ralph Lauren outfits you can get on sale
also - I think the burberry rompers and skirts are adorable on little girls
don't know if I will be able to afford it, but if I had daughters I could see myself springing for an outfit or two.
