Spinoff to Fall Coat

I am movnig on to the convertible carseat soon and I know you are not supposed to strap DC in with a bulky coat. So...how do you keep DC warm on the way to the car? Am I gonig to have bundle DD up, take her outside, put her in the car, take off her coat and then strap her in and then do the reverse when we arrive? Plus, the car is cold in the winter. While I am so looking forward to getting rid of the infant seat since it is so heavy at this point, I have no idea how to do anything without it!

If it was a short ride, I would keep his Gap Warmest Jacket on...but for longer distance driving,,,,a light jacket with a heavy fleece blanket and a hat~ I also warmed the truck up, so it was toaty for DS!
