Spinoff to favorite memory: What kind of crazy "lies" did your parents tell you at Christmas and you believed them?
Lie #1:
On Christmas Eve (I was 5 and my sister almost 3.5) my sister and I were playing in the bath tub so we could go to bed early and wait for Santa. It was dark outside (of course, it was Winter). My father in the LV said something like "girls, did you hear that?". Needless to say, my sister and I looked at each other and I think our eyes almost popped out of our head. My mom (not happy!) told us to wait, she had to finish bathing us. My sister and I (wet head) and in our robe and sleepers rushed to the LV. And there it was... toys everywhere.
My father had actually really heard Santa and we missed it.
The best lie EVER. I asked my dad how the toys came in since we did not have a fireplace. Duhhhh, my dad said he came through the RADIATOR pipe. Hello!!!!! But of course! Santa is really "talented".
Lie #2
My parents (well, my dad really!) could not wait for Christmas morning and wanted us to open our presents on Christmas Eve. See lie #1 above. When asked why he could come that early, my dad told us.... "well, it's a long night and Santa started at our house". That was it. So if you ever wondered why you got your presents in the morning it's because Santa was making the rounds and stopped at OUR house first. Since it was dark outside, that must have true, the night had started.

My grandmother was Catholic, and tried really hard to make us celebrate. So she told me that I would only get presents if I believed in Santa and "declared" it to everyone. She also told me that Santa was everywhere, like God, and if I did not tell everyone I believed in Santa that some other kid who did believe would get my presents. Yeah great thing to tell a 3 yr old. My mother had a fit at that one
ETA: ILs told DH that if he fed his veggies to the dog under the table that Santa would take his presents back. Funny.....

We lived in the 13th floor of an apartment building and I was told that Santa landed his reindeer on our balcony so I remember one Christmas Eve panicking because I saw our balcony door being locked!

The only thing I remember is if we didn't believe, he wouldn't give us presents.
It was a huge dilemma until my sister told me that she didn't really believe, but told my parents she did.
When I saw she got presents, I realized as long as you didn't say it outloud to an adult, Santa thought you still believed.
