spinoff to foods..

If you are on lean meat/ fresh veggie type of lifestyle, do you cook different meas for your DH, kids if you have them?

I feel like I am running a restaurant here & I hate to cook so that doesn't help.

I feel bad making DH all of this plain food, he needs more hearty meals for strength for the type of job he does.

DH and I eat the same meals. I am not sure what you mean when you say your DH "needs" more hearty meals- Lean protein is a great source of energy. You can make your DH a larger potion size and maybe add in an additional side dish-healthy food does not have to be plain and tasteless.

This site has some great recipes that are really tasty and easy to prepare:

Re: spinoff to foods..

My BF eats what I cook. When I started my diet, it was easier for him to follow it with me so I wasn't cooking two meals a night...which, I was NOT going to do either way. LOL
There are so many great recipes for that lifestyle using the spices you probably have at home!

I guess hearty like heavier sauces & & "manly" type meals.. lol can't really explain but my mother would call what I eat as bird food - lol

Re: spinoff to foods..

I know what you're saying. I don't have the time or energy to cook different meals. So I try to find things that we can both enjoy that work with my diet.

I also make different sides and prepare food differently. For example, if we're having turkey burgers, his gets cheese and mind don't. As far as sides, I'll make him mac and cheese and make myself a sweet potato. For chicken, I may bread his but make mine grilled.

I don't have kids, but I refuse to make separate dinners for myself and DH. I feed DH whatever I'm eating, but I make him more of it - and occasionally I'll add an extra side dish for him that I don't want or like.

Once in a while I'll cook him something I wouldn't normally eat, but otherwise he eats what I make _ I can't imagine making two dinner, or even seperate sides.

Food is fuel, healthy food fuels your body better than "a hearty meal"

The way I see it, why would I want my family to eat something I wouldn't put in my body. I live a healthy lifestyle and even if DH doesn't make that choice consciously, I'm not going to contribute to bad eating habits.

We eat the same. I always make enough so he can have bigger portions of protein or veggies.

We eat the same food. I usually give him slightly larger portions.
