SPINOFF to fridge post: master bedrooms?
When I was growing up, I would watch TV in my parents' bedroom, but my friends were NEVER allowed in there. It was understandably off-limits.
When I started dating my DH, I found it so weird that his parents' bedroom is a family hangout area. I was so hesitant to go in there, and it took me ages before I would sit on the bed or anything. Now, after being with him for over 8 years, I lounge on the bed with his parents and/or sisters watching TV or chatting. I still think it's a strange area to hang out though. MIL just feels most comfortable there. She sits on her bed to search the web, watch TV, make jewelry (her career), etc.
Do you know of any other master bedrooms that are one of the social centers of the house?

No, that's a first for me. I would feel weird doing that.

Certainly not a social center in my home or any other home I have been in, however I have no issues with peole plopping down on my bed for a conversation

We spend a lot of time in our bed with the kids but I don't think I would invite others

Re: SPINOFF to fridge post: master bedrooms?
oh no way!
in our house, ALL The bedrooms, the bed was made first thing in the morning, and that was that.
my sister and I were making our beds at a VERY young age. I remember the routine of putting the "pretty" blanket on, and then the dolls on top.
actually my brothers too (although they may not admit it today makin their beds and putting away their clean laundry also.
My mom was never a "my house is a museum" type mom, but we just didnt bounce around on our beds (like my kids do )
my hubby also would watch tv and eat takeout on his bed. I cannot eat on my bed. never have, never will.
he has no problem eating on the floor whle watching tv.
It depends on what youre used to, I guess.
but the bedroom as a social thing. nope. Even if we put coats on the bed when we have company and the coat closet is maxed out. everyone is in and out,and most people ask if they can even change the baby on my bed, which doesnt bother me at all.
did i answer the question
