Spinoff to giving two weeks notice...
Why is it that people get sooooo incredibly nervous before giving their notice at a job?
I have done it before and I was sooo nervous, my heart was racing - it was terrible - I was a nervous wreck.
What do you think the root of the nervousness is?

Re: Spinoff to giving two weeks notice...
disappointing them, pretty much admitting that you have been looking at jobs behind their back
the chance they may offer you something really good to stay
the chance they may say that the feeling is mutual

Re: Spinoff to giving two weeks notice...
The first time I had to give 2-weeks, I struggle not to cry and after it was over and done, I went to my desk and sobbed... I hated the job, but I don't know why I was so upset....

Re: Spinoff to giving two weeks notice...
I only had to do this once a few months ago and I was soooo nervous, mainly because I despised the partner I had to give notice to and I knew he didn't like me.

Re: Spinoff to giving two weeks notice...
Both times I gave notice to my company I was mostly nervous because my boss at the time was a real a$$hole and I actually feared his reaction.
Also, I had lots of good friends that I didn't want to leave.
But I didn't wind up leaving either time because they countered in unexpected ways both times, so I'm still here!!

Fear of the unknown
what the reaction will be and also even if you are leaving for better opportunity, wondering if it is the right move

Re: Spinoff to giving two weeks notice...
I think its the unknown of how they'll react.
At my last job, my boss was such a tyrant, and it just so happened that myself and another woman that worked in his office for the past 13 years started looking for other jobs (we didn't know about this). She gave her notice on Tuesday and I gave mine on Thursday!!!!!! It was like he got stabbed in the heart!!!!!! He deserved it!!!!!!!! I gave them my 2 weeks, and I was so happy that I was leaving...then it was a sense of relief!
