Spinoff to grocery bag post.
Anyone a dork like me and actually re-use ziplock bags? I mean, I have a little plastic bag dryer (a dowel on wood) and I wash them out and dry them. Tell me I'm not the only geek out there!

I do. And I'm also known for reusing tin foil

I do, but this is the first I'm hearing of washing them?

I'm the total opposite. I use so many of them I never even thought to wash them, to me that seems

Re: Spinoff to grocery bag post.
I will if it's something dry - like if i put pretzels in a ziplock to bring to work - I'll resuse it the next day for new pretzels.

Re: Spinoff to grocery bag post.
I get so mad when DH throws them out! I hate using plastic bags and generally try to avoid it, but they're so darn convenient. So when I do use them, I try to get the most out of them. I like to re-fill them with whatever was in them. So if I made a bunch of pancakes and froze some, when we finish them, I make a new batch and put them in the same bag!

Re: Spinoff to grocery bag post.
it depends on what I used it for
If I take a sandwich to work...I wrap the sandwich in foil and put it in the ziploc. I will bring that ziplock home and use it again.

Re: Spinoff to grocery bag post.
it's a nice idea, but with a 5 month old i'm lucky if i have time to go to the bathroom much less wash and reuse ziploc bags!

Same here. I never reuse one for "wet" food.

Same here. I've also reused them when I've just brought plain bread into work and the next day I'm bringing bread again. Or if I used it to keep something fresh-like a bag of chips. I've become very waste conscious and I try to eliminate throwing things out when I can.

These are the two instances where I reuse ziplocs - I don't wash them though.
