spinoff to happy life day... wanted to share a message I really learned
This week one of my dearest friends lost their 20 year old child in a tragic hit and run accident.
I have been so angry for them. They are wonderful people and very religious. I questioned why God would do this, especially to someone as devout as they are.
I spoke to him on the phone and he was so strong, hurting but taking comfort that God had a plan. The wake was soooo emotional. Her college bussed in 2 busses of kids-and there is something very very sad about seeing so many young people at a wake. When the nun , who knew the family well, said her prayer she quoted my friends wife who said, she was not angry at God but so "thankful for every moment of the 20 years they had together".
This week has been so emotional for me, but this truly touched me. I am not a very religious person, but to know that they found comfort in their faith comforted me.
But most importantly it reminded me to be thankful for every moment that we have with the ones we love. Not to take any moments for granted. Because you just never know, even healthy people die.
We hear it all the time, but this was one of the few times I really felt it. Be grateful for every moment you have with the ones you love.

You are so right. Live for the moment, you just never know.
Was this the girl who was hit and run upstate on her way back to college?

Whenever I am feeling down or overwhelmed I always try to take a step back and really put things into place. It makes me realize how thankful I am and how under appreciated the great things in my life are.

Sorry for your friends loss. I could not agree more. Two years ago an 8 year old student in my school was killed by a drunk driver. Her death really affected me and made me realize that you never know when anyone is going to be taken from you, young or old. So we need to appreciate each day and let the people we love know we love them.

Such a wonderful reminder.
I am so saddened for them. What a horrible loss and a waste. People need to slow down- it amazes me that a lot of speeders don't realize that they could kill someone that way
Many for the family.

It's so true...sometimes we tend to focus on what we don't have and what we want changed instead of just appreciating what we have now and the people around us. I'm so sorry for your friends

I am so sorry for your loss - and your friends loss. Death is tragic in itself, but to happy to a young person always hits us even harder. We need to really tell the ones we love that we do - every day.

I am so sorry for your friends loss of their precious child I am amazed at those who can find comfort in their religious faith and I hope that helps their hearts heal with a little extra ease.
