Spinoff to HGTV shows - Love It or List It
I hate how Hilary always gets the short end... David can go out of their desired area and OVER budget and Hilary has to make a miracle out of $25K.

Re: Spinoff to HGTV shows - Love It or List It
what I don't get about this show is, If they decide to list it the house david showed them that they fell inlove with how would they be able to buy it when they havnt even listed there home yet? Is there some sort of deal they make with the network?

I only recently started watching this show. I hate the fake drama when there isn't enough money to do certain projects.

The expectations on both ends are completely ridiculous. And Hilary always looks like she can't get the job done because they "find all these problems" that eat away at the budget.

Re: Spinoff to HGTV shows - Love It or List It
I love that they give Hilary a list of, new kitchen, finished basement, add a bathroom and a bedroom. And here is $30,000 to do it. On what planet??

Re: Spinoff to HGTV shows - Love It or List It
The premise of this show makes very little sense to me and the fake tension and drama is so silly.
The last one I watched the homeowners hadn't take care of an issue and the foundation was literally rotting and they were upset with Hillary because they had to give up a new master bath to fix it. It was such a joke! Now I refuse to watch it.

Also, I don't get why Hilary makes all these promises only to tell the owners that we don't have enough money to relocate the bathroom. I really think it they had the contractor do a walk through they would identify most of the things they end up saying they can't do.
I also hate how the owners sometimes act like spoiled bratty children. You give $30K and expect a whole new addition, new kitchen and bathroom. Gimme a break.

Very true! I am often wondering what planet they are on...especially because a simple inspection would reveal so much!

Spinoff to HGTV shows - Love It or List It
I like this show a lot- but having seen a lot of episodes I can tell it's completely formulaic. Also, I read somewhere that people who wanted to sell needed to already be in contract to sell the current home so it's a bit fake too, if that's true. Some of those homeowners are such assclowns, but that's part of the fun.

I just find it so fake. All the problems that Hillary finds are problems that they would have to fix before the house could be sold. Rotted floors, mold, crumbling foundations would never pass inspection yet the homeowners refuse to give Hillary the extra money to cover it.

Spinoff to HGTV shows - Love It or List It
This show drives me crazy! There is ALWAYS something wrong that they have to take out of the budget for and the other house that would work for them is ALWAYS the last house they see and it's out of their price range, or out of their neighborhood...blah. I think that Hillary should do a little inspection before promising people things and only deliver what she actually can - and not spend a million dollars on high end upgrades...
In response to a pp - I don't think the homeowners buy the other house - If you listen, David says that he shows them the potential other homes in the area. By the time they list, they might not find something as great and be SOL!

I agree.
I commented on the other thread too about this show.
These people aggravate me because they are such slobs, and then they turn their nose up at really nice, maintained homes for stupid shit.
It's amazing to me too what a little bit of paint and cleaning out the soap scum around the bathtub can do to make them "love it".

I've only caught a handful of episodes, but I remember someone commenting once that they noticed some of the homes that are shown, are homes from past series that were listed.
As an aside, my DH is a contractor, and has done work on some shows that were featured on HGTV and it's all totally staged.
