i need to get out of this dead-end job, but "on paper" i'm not "all that"

well, you have to update your resume and make it eye catching - that's the first thing that will get you in the door.

second thing is, when you get the interview, you have to be sure to outshine the competition!

ITA!

Maybe add in a part regarding a special project or initiaive that you were involved in or led. That always looks good on a resume or in the cover letter even.

I would never lie on a resume or in an interview - I think it always catches up with you in some way.

I think you need to have someone with a critical eye look at your resume and give you feedback. Sometimes it isn't viewed the way we think it is. I also think having a great cover letter can help too.

I agree.

I had a professional do my resume when I was looking for a job (when I got this one). It was amazing the different response I had to the new resume. That is something you may want to consider.
