Spinoff to missing church ceremony

If a ceremony is hours before the reception have you ever gone in your plain clothes then went home and got dressed later? My mom has done this several times just wondering if anyone considers it rude.

Yeah, I don't get that, but then people go to church in clothes I'd never wear to synagogue. I just figured it was okay in Christianity?

Re: Spinoff to missing church ceremony

I don't think it is rude, I don't think I have ever been to a ceremony done up. Ususally just regular clothes then I go home and change

Besides...I don't think most of my black dresses are not church friendly

Re: Spinoff to missing church ceremony

I go in a nice but comfortable suit or skirt and top and change into a dress for the reception.

Its just eaiser for me that way plus I hate getting wrinkles!! lol
Also I change my makeup from night to day so with the change of makeup comes the change of outfit

I did that for a 12.30 wedding I was invited to with a 7.00 reception. I dressed up for the ceremony but not quite as dressy as I did for the reception.

I don't think it's rude at all as long as you are dressed appropriately.

if you are not going to wear an evening gown, at least dress up in something appropriate for daytime. i kind of think it's rude when ppl show up in jeans or khakis.

Re: Spinoff to missing church ceremony

I've done that if the Church was close to home and I had time to go home and get changed. I always dressed in a neat casual outfit. If the wedding is far from home, I wear the outfit I'd be wearing to the reception.

Re: Spinoff to missing church ceremony

I would wear nice pants or a nice skirt to the church and then go home and change. I think that many people do that.
