Spinoff to my own post on tipping for bad service
Why do you tip if you did not like the service/technician that worked on the service they provided?
Again, not just waiter/waitress but
hairdresser nail technician, etc....

I start thinking about what their hourly rate must be, so then I tip.

Re: Spinoff to my own post on tipping for bad service
I have had subpar haircuts or brow waxes - and I still tip. I just don't give my usual generous tip. I do it because I feel like they did their best and it just didn't meet my standards. Then I never return and I won't refer anyone to them. I feel like the loss of business and potential referrals says more than me stiffing them a few bucks on a tip.
My sister - on the other hand - once refused to pay (much less tip) because the hairdresser colored her hair a peculiar shade of bright Ronald McDonald red instead of the very subtle auburn she had requested. She also demanded that they correct it at their own expense. She wound up paying and tipping on the correction anyway because she was happy with the results.
