Spinoff to my post... how do you get monitored?
Many of you say that its important to be monitored while on clomid.
I want to make sure my dr will do that but dont know what kind of monitoring i need or there should be. Can anyone explain what kind of monitoring there should be and what that monitoring is checking on?
ETA: if you were on clomid, why were you personally put on it?

Re: Spinoff to my post... how do you get monitored?
I explained this in my other post, but when you are on Clomid, generally you should be monitored with sonograms and bloodwork. The sono's will show the growth of the follicles/how they are progressing as you get closer to ovulation. The bloodwork is to check your estrogen/progesterone levels as they will rise as you get closer to ovulation. This will give them an idea as to how close to Oing you are.
I went on Clomid because I no longer ovulate on my own.

Re: Spinoff to my post... how do you get monitored?
I have had my share of Clomid ....Back in '05 I was going to a regular Gyn. who decided to put me on it- Had me take BBT (temps) and circled dates on a calendar of when to BD- Fast forward 6 months later and still not PG...Took it into my own hands and saw an RE- had mucho bloodwork taken every cycle on different days throughout, multiple sonos to moniter my follicle sizes, an HSG done (to make sure no blockages in the tubes, so we knew we werent wasting our time), a SA for my DH and finally an IUI because I was informed by my RE that Clomid has a tendency to dry your CM therefore making it harder for the swimmers to get where they need to(also something Gyn never told me)...3 cycles with an RE and conceived my DS...Its a world of difference in IMO- hopefully your Dr. isnt as overconfident as mine and will refer you to a specialist if need be...I have a mild case of PCOS (and anovulatory)and that was my reason for the Clomid...If you are doing timed BD, many ladies on this board have used Pre-Seed to help with the drying effects of Clomid....Good Luck- hope I didnt confuse you

Re: Spinoff to my post... how do you get monitored?
When I was on clomid he had me go in to have bloodwork done every few days as well as sonograms- to see if any follies were growing. None of the doses of clomid worked for me, but I'd guess if they had I'd have gone in for even more monitoring and lab tests. GL!!!

Re: Spinoff to my post... how do you get monitored?
This is my first cycle on Clomid but i can tell you that I had my share of bloodwork done on CD3 by the RE. I am scheduled to go back to the RE a week after my last pill of Clomid for a follicle sonogram. We are set for IUI within a couple days after. Also, I was instructed to take OPK's starting on Day 12.
I am on it bc we are dealing with only male factor, low morphology & low testosterone. Our RE wanted me to go on it to increase the quantity of eggs so DH's sperm have more targets. I have always O'ed on my own...
