Spinoff to my post: if you're having food brought in by caterers for DC's party...
When did you put for the RSVP on the invitation, and more importantly, how far in advance did you need to give final #s to the catering people? I want to order my invites ASAP and we don't have catering lined up yet and I don't really want to wait on the invites.
What's customary?

Most caterers require 48 - 72 hours for guarantees. Some require up to a week. For the RSVP, I would recommend 10 days - 2 weeks.

Well, I don't know if this counts as catering, but we aren't making food, we ordered it and I did it today and Christopher's party is Saturday.
The place I ordered the hero from said I could have done it until 4pm the day before.
