Spinoff to names- calling someone by the wrong name
I just found out I have been calling my neighbor by the wrong name for a year.  DH and I were so embarassed.

I've had that happen before I called my across the street neighbor and asked him how Marilyn was, his next door neighbor, He said , well her name is Maxine and I have no idea!

My dad has a mental block when it comes to one of our neighbors - he constantly calls him Mike. The guy's name is Joe  Thankfully he has a pretty good sense of humor about it!

I have a friend from college that I STILL call Ted Tadd Todd because for years I couldn't remember which his name was.
Now it's a joke with us.

I have two people (who have never met each other) who constantly call me "Scott". Not that there's anything wrong with that name.... except that it's not mine! Sometimes they realize after they say it, sometimes I have to call them on it, sometimes, if we're passing in the hall, they never even realize.....
I use pronouns as much as possible, to avoid this problem...

I do that all the time.... But then again, I have had people calling me "Liz" and "Lisa" for years, no matter how many times I correct them....
