spinoff to PAstina post...how do you know when DC is ready for table foods?
when do you know your child is ready for table foods? DS is 8 months (6 months corrected age) and LOVES baby food - I give him 1/2 jarred food and I make food for him too. Sometimes he has issues with the texture of the food I make - basically he will spit it out if he doesn't seem to care for the texture. However, he seems SO interested in what we are eating. I have given him little bits of bread, bananas and fruit in the mesh bag. He also seems hungry all the time...currently he is eating at least 1/2 cup of cereal plus at least 2 jars of fruits or veggies, and his 5 bottles each day. Do you think he is ready for puffs or pastina?? I am so scared of him choking bc he has no teeth yet but would love for him to at least experience this stuff.....
what are your thoughts????

how old is he 6 months? I would stick with the baby food for a while longer. Babies bellies have to get used to food ect. ALL babies are interested in "adult" food, but it does not mean they really want the food or are ready. Giving him bananas, stuff like that is ok.. when did you start solids ? (cereal , baby food)

DS is 6 months- well technically he is going to be 7 months this weekend, I give him puffs, he loves them. I will also give him very tiny pieces of what we are eating, a grain of rice, tiny piece of pasta, etc. He has no teeth but it so interested in food, and I make everything so small so its not a problem.

us too and DD is 9 mos, we have to give her puffs just to get baby food down. Try yogurt maybe? DD loves it!

My DS is 7 months and he eats puffs, cheerios, and arrowroot cookies (and teether cookies)....the last two only when I'm right in front of him to watch when he breaks off pieces. He loves them all (and he still eats his baby food thankfully)

Re: spinoff to PAstina post...how do you know when DC is ready for table foods?
we skipped baby food with both girls. We went stright to soft table foods. my first DD was about 7 months old when she started (we started giving her the arrowroot cookies at 4 months and she would feed them to herseldf like a champ). My second DD HATED all food (even baby food). She wouldn't even eat breastmilk/formula off the spoon. We were told she might need to see a specialist because of it. Then one day (about a week after she turned 8 months old) something clicked and she wanted what I was eating. She has been eating what ever we eat (cut into very small pieces) since then! Its not true that they must eat baby food first. My girls Ped was pefectly fine with the way we chose to feed them.
