You mean aside from the usual park playgrounds?
Lately we've been going to:
Tackapusha in Seaford
LICM
Queens Cty Farm Museum
CSH Fish Hatchery
Plaster painting place on rainy days
At some point soon I plan to take them to the Center for Science Teaching and Learning at Tanglewood and the Teddy Roosevelt Nature Center at Jones Beach but haven't made it there yet.

besides the park, classes, walks, and playdates we have begun going to the shows at the local parks. There is one tomorrow at Forest Lake Park in Wantagh at 11am! I went to a TOBAY one in Farmingdale yesterday.

Town of Hempstead does a whole bunch of shows every summer at different parks.

we just bring an outdoor blanket and try to find a spot under a tree. I think a 8 months she can appreciate it, maybe not the same as the toddlers and preschoolers. My daughter is 1 and she likes hearing the music and listening to the people speak, but she also likes watching the other kids. It's nice to just get outside. If she would get upset I would either leave or take her to the playground (or feed her)!
