Spinoff to Stinky Breath
So, I've tried all the dental things - nothing worked - this dog has the worst breath.
I will now start brushing her teeth - but - How the heck do I go about doing this?

Re: Spinoff to Stinky Breath
What we did with Daisy. Well, first, go buy the chicken flavored toothpaste and the toothbrush that fits over your finger to put in the dog's mouth to brush their teeth (sometimes they are sold as a set together).
1. We let Daisy sniff the toothpaste on the toothbrush and let her lick it. We did this every few days to get her used to the taste.
2. Then we brought the toothbrush into her mouth and rubbed it along her gums. If she got fussy, we let her lick the toothbrush again. We repeated this every few days.
Keep in mind - always reassure the dog in a soothing voice that they are being good and you're not doing this to torture them.
3. Finally, she allowed us on her mouth to rub around her teeth and gums.
Also - they sell dental wipes for dogs teeth for dogs that don't like the toothpaste. We periodically use this if Daisy is being fussy.

Thank you so much! I know if this was Molly we would have no fingers left. Abby is much easier to groom and take care of though.

It is very important that you buy doggie toothpaste. Regular toothpaste will upset their stomach. Good LUCK!

Re: Spinoff to Stinky Breath
Porter was always very god about it. We just let him sniff it and then lick i a little and he was fine wih me brushing his teeth.
Lucky on the other hand, I had to hold him down while he did everything in his power to get away from me. It took me 20 minutes to brish his teeth. But now he has gotten used to it. He pulls his head away at frist but then i guess he figures it's not worth fighting cuz i win everytime. So he just lets me do it.
