spinoff to table food: what kind of yogurt?
i noticed a lot of you gave your babies yogurt. DS is 7 months old and i'd like to try it with him.
does it have to be a "baby" yogurt like yobaby or can he have regular? is there any risk of allergies? (obviously a kid can have an allergy to anything--i'm talking common risk like eggs, dairy, nuts, etc)

It is better to use YoBaby this early b/c it has full fat and it also does not contain aspertaime.
I know they make a plain one, then you can go to the fruit flavored ones. DS loves yogurt!

Re: spinoff to table food: what kind of yogurt?
there is a chance of a milk allergy/ has he had cheese or ice cream? is he on a milk based formula?
also, I know my dr didn't want him to have any berries. until he was 1 year. Berries because many are allergic/
I used to give the yobaby vanilla/banana, and the peach/pear. He loved both of them, and the portions were perfect.

he has been on milk based formula the whole time with no problems. he's also had berries--i didn't know they were common allergens. my doc said any stage 2 food was fine--so i've been buying different types of berry mixes.
i'm going to get some yobaby next week. can they have a regular fat vanilla "adult" yogurt?

Yo-Baby - so far she likes the peach, pear, strawberry banana and strawberry pear flavors.

Yes. I give Landon Organic Whole milk yogurt from Trader Joes and feed it to him with a jar of fruit or a sweet veg.

Re: spinoff to table food: what kind of yogurt?
My ped said no yogurt until 9 months because it is harder on their digestive system. When I do start though I was planning on starting on Yobaby.

Re: spinoff to table food: what kind of yogurt?
DD eats Trader Joes organic whole milk vanilla yogurt. The ingredients are exactly the same as Stony Field Farms (the makers of YoBaby), and their adult full fat yogurt is the same as the YoBaby.

Re: spinoff to table food: what kind of yogurt?
We didn't try yogurt until 9 months. My doctor recommended Yo baby both because it's whole milk, and there is less "stuff" in it overall, no aspartame or splenda. But if you see an adult yogurt that doesn't have a ton of sugar and other things, try it. Most do though.
You can also try a plain whole fat yogurt and put your own fruit or pureed babyfood in it.

I like it this way too. I wouldn't mix in honey for a 7 month old though (I know Josh is older) but for the OP's knowledge. Honey isn't suggested I think until children are 2 years old due to possible botchulism (crazy spelling).
