Spinoff to the bullying thread... as an adult have you witnessed any bullying of a kid?
I live right across the street from an elementary school (but it's a catholic school so clearly there are no bullies there   ) and when the weather's nice I like to watch the kids out playing at recess when DS is asleep; that sounds creepy but it's not I assure you.
I'm just interested in the group dynamics, how they play, how they tease each other, how they include/exclude each other yaddayadda...
Anyway, I haven't seen any true bullying behavior in a while but I have one anecdote that sticks in my head..
Quite a few years ago my brother and my BF at the time played on a rugby team; we went to one of their games at a park somewhere in NJ. The guys played and during one of the breaks a group of kids were nearby; turns out the biggest kid in the bunch, about 13 or so, had taken a younger kids' bike and he and his friends were trying to get it back. Once the younger kids started beating on the 13ish kid, he picked up a bat and started swinging at the younger ones 
It all happened very fast but next thing I know my brother walked over, GRABBED the bat-wielder by the scruff of the neck and LIFTED him off the ground, and proceeded to lecture him (LOUDLY!) about stealing other people's stuff... As he's doing this he was walking deliberately to the side of a lake that was in the park... They get to the edge and rips the bat outta the kid's hands and sends it FLYYYYYYING into the middle of the lake, telling the kid, "You wanna fight? FIGHT LIKE A MAN." Then he dropped the kid to the ground and walked away.
It was a thing of beauty

As the consultant for students with Asperger's Syndrome I witness it all the time. What gets me is how little fear they have of adults reprimanding them!!!! They act like their sh%t doesn't stink!!!!!

as an older teenager (17-18) I threated with a wiffle ball bat a group of boys on bikes that were bullying and taunting my little brother and his friends.
they were NOT expecting me to come flying down the stoop at them AT ALL. they were around 13, about 5 or 6 of them...but like most bullies, they cower with a show of real strength.
I find bullying to be one of the most DISGUSTING character traits a person can have.

He was always doing stuff like this! A real "defender of the weak" type!!! He had to play golf with a partner at his firm at Van Cortland Park one time, as he took the subway back to work someone ripped a gold chain off a lady's neck on the platform... He dropped his  bag of golf clubs, chased the dude up the stairs and grabbed him by the ankle!!! An undercover cop came running and took over. His wife used to tell him all the time he makes her so proud and so scared at the same time Oh and a little Chinese man stood guard over his clubs while he was playing "To Catch a Thief" so he was really happy about that

Love it. My younger sister is 5 yrs younger and she was/is the SWEEETEST little thing, if anyone messed with her I think they knew to be more afraid of me than my mom
