Are we "allowed" to shovel?

My DH works Sundays and usually gets home by 2 in the afternoon. There is no way I am going to make him shovel in the morning at 5 when he leaves and then again when he gets home. We dont have a snowblower, so if the snow continues, I want to make sure his spot is clear when he gets home.

Re: Spinoff to the snow post

I don't think it would be advised. Shoveling snow is very hard work when you're not pregnant. I can't imagine doing it pregnant.

Snow is heavy, it can't be good for you to be lifting it.

Re: Spinoff to the snow post

It is not something we do everyday and is very strenuous, so I would say no.

Re: Spinoff to the snow post

the only thing i would say is maybe use a broom and do it slow when the snow has just fallen a push broom cant hurt but def do not shovel that is just too much strenious (sp) work... and dont over do it with the broom u know ..ps us preggers should be home and not out in the cold either we cant take meds if we catch a cold <3

Re: Spinoff to the snow post

They always give warnings about how strenous snow shoveling is and to take precautions in general. i imagine that for anyone who's pregnant the warnings are even greater.

I'd pay a kid or someone to come and do the shovelling.

I would do the same. Also, it might be icy out there and you wouldn't want to risk falling.Chat Icon

Thanks guys. I didnt think it would be a good idea - I just hate sitting around and not being able to help.

I dont really know too many neighborhood kids, so it looks like DH is going to just have to suck it up when he gets home.

Re: Spinoff to the snow post

I am going to go out there ever 1/2 hour or so to clear our driveway and walkway. DH broke his leg and there really aren't any kids in our neighborhood so I don't have much of a choice.

I know how you feel - its a helpless feeling not being able to the things you would ordinarily do, but I just don't think its worth the risk at all.

Dh wouldn't let me even if I wanted to. He barely lets me carry the grocery bags.
