spinoff to when did you enjoy your child
If you had/have PPD but didn't recognize it does it go away on its own after a certain amount of time?

Re: spinoff to when did you enjoy your child
JMO...but i think PPD really can be classified in different stages. I think some people go through it but don't necessary need to seek out help. I have heard others who get really, really sad and need to seek out help as well. There is also a whole nother situation where one starts thinking of hurting their children. If i am correct i think they call that Post Partum Psychosis.
I've spoken to people who were lke me....cried a lot, were overwhelmed, but slowly came out of it on their own. I spoke to other moms who never cried or had these issues when their baby were born and I had some people i know had to seek out help.

Personally, I don't think that PPD is something that you can come out of on your own. I think most moms have feelings of sadness nad being overwhelmed at first due to hormonal changes, but PPD is something that I really think someone needs treatment for. But I can only speak from my own experience.

Re: spinoff to when did you enjoy your child
I don't think I had PPD but DH thinks I did. I am just starting to really enjoy DD and she is 9 months old. I think my problems were a result of her health problems though. She had problems eating and ended up having kidney surgery at six months. She was fairly difficult to take care of and keep happy, and as a result, I was exhausted and depressed. Now that she has recovered from her surgeries, she is doing much better and so am I. I have a whole new respect for parents caring for children with disabilities or chronic illness. It's tough.
