Spinoff to: Which is better with kids? Leather or fabric (stain guard)
What is better for kids and cats (that are not declawed) Leather or fabric?
I have kids and cats that are not declawed. We're looking to buy a new livingroom set and I'm not sure what is better.
My cats typically don't scratch the couch (I have fabric now) but they do like to jump up and sit on the top/back to look out the window.

No leather with cars! If they jump on your furniture you will have little wholes (feels rough)

we have kids AND cats- we got microfiber to replace our twill fabric couch. The twill was a nightmare- cats pulled at it and all these threads came out. Whenever DD spilled something- was impossible to get up. I think microfiber is much easier to clean.

I have microfiber with a dog and DS and DH I love it. It cleans up very nice. I scrub them down and soak them every once and awhile and they come out great.

we have leather and have 2 boys a cat and a dog, and I think it is the BEST. The animals DO NOT put hole in the leather, I HATE the microfiber, and the cloth furniture collects hair from the pets.

I have a cat and she is not declawed. I have a leather chair now, and she sleeps on it but doesn't scratch it at all! Even when she jumps from the chair to the sofa she doesn't scratch it.
For this reason, I am looking into getting new leather couches.
Good luck!

Totals depends on how disciplined your animal is, who runs your house. My mother-in-law has cats that eat her flip flops and the wires in her house and tear up her furniture. If your cats or dogs are not crazy and trained, you can have anything. If they run the house get concrete furniture.
Have a beautiful day!!!

you want AIRBRUSHED microfiber - looks like twill but cleans easily.
the suede microfiber I'd skip.
Leather I think would be fine but that's a personal choice.
