Spinoff to Working Out
Does anyone know if it's okay to lift light weights (I'm thinking hand weights) while pregnant? I used to use those and weight machines, but I'm thinking the machines may not be good.
I can't seem to find anything on these topics in books! Most just mention walking, swimming, and yoga as safe ways to exercise and not much else.

Re: Spinoff to Working Out
My doctor told me that i can lift weights BUT no more than 20 lbs and to use less weight and you can do more reps... I did my legs this morning and I did 20lbs which felt like nothing but I did more reps... tomorrow i am going to do my arms and i will probably do 10-12lbs with more reps...

Honestly it isn't hard enough for me. I have done it a few times and it is ok. I prefer to do "workouts on demand" on TV..and then I alter them so I am not overdoing it during my pregnancy....they are free and I can do them whenever I want.

Thanks so much for the quick response. That is the problem I have with the dvd I have - it is a prenatal pilates dvd and I swear I get more exercise walking around the corner, lol.
One more question about the video - does it have exercises for toning arms? How are they?

Thanks for the replies! I am seeing my doctor next week, so I will ask her about this then. For now I'll stick to walking, though most of the time, I don't even have energy for that!
