Splenda vs. Brown Sugar
I was a splendaholic, seriously. Used way too much. The nutritionist that I was seeing took me off of it and told me to substitute brown sugar (or sugar in the raw), which I now love.
My question is-which is REALLY better for you weight gain wise?

Re: Splenda vs. Brown Sugar
well i say that too much splenda is bad b/c it IS a chemical and it does make your liver work overtime to get it out of your body sugar is best- but you shouldn't use a lot of it either.

Re: Splenda vs. Brown Sugar
I hate splenda so for me this would be no issue. I would use real sugar and use it lightly.

Re: Splenda vs. Brown Sugar
I don't use sugar substitutes; only the real thing. Sugar in the raw is better than white sugar, but I believe it just has molasses in it which gives it the brown color. It's still sugar though, so use it sparingly.
Stevia is a natural sweetener that is much better for you. I'm not crazy about the taste, but you might want to give it a shot.

Re: Splenda vs. Brown Sugar
I think I will stick with my brown sugar, especially since I am trying to do a few things organic these days. Thanks for your help!

Re: Splenda vs. Brown Sugar
So many people believe that sugar increases your appetite, so you run that risk with Sugar in the Raw (which is SUGAR). If you have blood sugar issues, suich as diabetes, sugar in the raw is a no-no unless you are experiencing low sugar. Splenda is a chemical subsitute, with its own set of risks. My DH has juvenile diabetes, with great control, and he would never use Sugar in the Raw. He thinks finds that Splenda is almost like a laxative, so he will only use it in moderation. My own opinion is that for a non-diabetic, even if you are trying to lose weight, either one in a small amount is okay.
